LifterLMS is a self hosted learning management system platform.

Self hosted means you own the platform and have control over it. In contrast a hosted LMS is where you typically have expensive monthly fees and are renting space on a company’s LMS platform.

When you self host your LMS with LifterLMS you will need:

• A domain name
• Your own web hosting
• The free WordPress software installed (most hosting companies do this for you)
• The LifterLMS plugin installed and whatever LifterLMS add-ons you require
